Gene Gross
Gene graduated from DuQuoin High School in 1976, from SIU Carbondale in 1980 and Washington University School of Law with a J.D. in 1983. Upon admission to the Illinois Bar in 1983, Gene was an associate with the firm of Hohlt, House, DeMose and Johnson until serving as the Perry County State’s Attorney from 1985 through 1992.
In 1993 Gene joined into a partnership with Gerald Reed, Edward Heller and Thomas Mansfield (then Reed, Heller, Mansfield & Gross) where he worked until being appointed in 2010 as an Associate Judge for the 20th Judicial Circuit (later changed to 24th Circuit).
Gene retired from his Judicial position on January 30, 2025, and rejoined his former partnership as senior counsel.
Gene is authorized to practice in Illinois United States District Court (Southern and Central Districts of Illinois), the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
